Roof, Chimney, & Door Repair Fund
Wishing you many blessings this Christmas and throughout 2024!
I am sure that many of you are unaware of the recent work that has been done at Spruce Run
Lutheran Church to make the space more secure, more comfortable, and more accessible for us
all. Recent and current efforts include upgrading the camera system to improve the remote
worship experience, installing cameras for security, relining the chimney for the main furnace,
improving outdoor lighting, etc… Some of this work has been supported by grants and
donations.
During the recent work on the chimney liner, the team did an inspection of the roof. As
expected, some slate repairs are needed; unfortunately, it is a larger job than we had hoped.
The team also determined that the bands on the chimney need maintenance.
We also have had one other item on our list of things that should be done – we need to replace
the fellowship hall door and its wooden frame with a metal-framed heavy-duty door. As you
may have heard, earlier this year, an intruder broke in through this door with a crowbar;
fortunately, he left peaceably after encountering Pastor Chris, and nothing was taken, and no
one was harmed. The door has since been reinforced, but that is only a temporary measure.
All told the roof, chimney bands, and door work are going to cost about $12,000.00. Naturally,
this was not something we budgeted for, so we are asking the congregation and friends of the
church to help support our efforts to maintain our beautiful, historic church building.
So, please, we are asking you to prayerfully consider how you can support our efforts to keep
the church warm, dry, safe and inviting. When donating, please indicate what the funds are for
by using the word “ROOF.”
Thank you!
